Let one thing be clear. If the Democrats define Bob McDonnell as a tool of the religious right, it doesn't matter if the Democratic candidate is Terry McAuliffe or Howard Dean, they'll win. The Republican Party is not going to win back Virginia by focusing on a narrow range of social issues. McDonnell needs to think big.
